If your Sundays feel like a chaotic scramble to “get your life together,” you’re not alone. As a busy dog mom who loves creating, staying stylish, and keeping things (mostly) organized, I’ve learned that a few small routines can make the entire week feel calmer and more intentional. Here are simple, realistic ways to prepare for the upcoming work week that still leave space for you, your creative energy, and of course, your pup.
1. Start With a Gentle Reset (No, Not the Deep Clean)
We’re not scrubbing baseboards here. A quick reset is enough: clear your counters, restock your coffee station, and tidy your dog’s toy corner. A clean-ish home sets the tone for a calmer mind and a smoother Monday morning.
2. Prep a Mini Self-Care Plan
Self-care doesn’t require a spa day. Plan three small moments that support you during the week. Maybe a 15-minute morning stretch, a cozy skincare routine one evening, or reading with your dog curled next to you. These little rituals add grounding and joy.
3. Make Time for a Creative Break
Crafting is not only fun but also stress relief. Prep a small mid-week creative session: laying out beads for a bracelet, setting aside a canvas to paint with your dog (yes, it’s a thing), or printing a simple DIY project. Creativity boosts your mood and gives you something to look forward to.
4. Plan Your Workouts (The Realistic Version)
You don’t need an hour in the gym. Pick two or three short home workouts you actually enjoy. I'm thinking Pilates, a quick walk with your dog, or a 20-minute low-impact routine. Put them on your calendar like appointments with yourself.
5. Set Up One Thing for Dog Mom Convenience
Nothing derails a morning faster than searching for a leash or treats. Prep your dog-mom essentials in one spot: harness, bags, wipes, water bottle, treats. You’ll thank yourself at 6 a.m.
6. Choose Your “Big Three” for the Week
Instead of an overwhelming to-do list, pick three priorities you must get done. Keep it simple. This helps you stay focused throughout the week without burning out on Monday.
Your Week Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect—Just Prepared Enough
A little structure, a little creativity, and a lot of dog love can turn a stressful week into a manageable, calm, and even fun one. Prep what matters, let go of the rest, and walk into your Monday with confidence (and plenty of dog treats).
